Translator repair

Last week Adam had the chance to take Rick Migra out to Ruby so they could see what it would take to get the radio translator back on the air.  The translator takes a satellite signal from Nenana and rebroadcasts it via a low power FM radio transmitter for the local area.  One of the difficulties of having these scattered all over Alaska is that it is hard to keep up with the preventive maintenance therefore many of these translators are only visited when there is a report of problems.  Ruby had been off the air for sometime due to a tree falling onto the dish and doing considerable damage.  Adam and Rick were able to patch a few things together but there are a few things that will have to be replaced in order to get this back on the air.  Parts have been ordered and when they arrive we will head back out and make the permanent repairs.  Once again the airplane is proving to be a wonderful tool for helping get the Gospel into remote Alaska.

By the way did you know that you can listen to the same signal that is being broadcast all over Alaska?  Listen online now!
